Values, edges, perception and color. These are the four fundamentals of painting we need to create art without limitations. The traditional way of looking at art, namely the visual arts, suggests that there are five basic elements of an artwork –line, shape, color, texture and space.
Representational or abstract drawing and painting is more about observation than basic mark-making. In fact, observation, and learning how to see, is crucial to your development as an artist.
Description: This 2-Day Workshop will address the basic elements, but the center of attention will be on shapes, texture and geometry, which play an integral role in how we decipher what we are observing and how we record it in a painting. We will discuss different mark making and starting points. Technique demonstrations combined with group discussions, presentations, and printed resources add to the experience, raising awareness and appreciation for the content.
If you have no cold wax medium experience a one-day class is offered the day before at a discounted price.

Landscape painting is a classification that can easily be represented in abstraction. Nature can offer many inspirational opportunities, like colors of light, clouds, mountains, trees, rocks water, but specially the weather. if we don’t see elements that we can identify as objective reality, we say it is abstract and the fewer cues to objective reality there are, the more abstract we say it is.
Description: This workshop centers on methods and technics used to abstract the landscape with a simple painting approach using line, shape, forms, colors, and light. We will analyze and experiment with contrast, colors, composition and the the placement of the horizon line. There will be ample opportunities to ask Jorge questions regarding your artwork, plus lots of painting time.
Please note this workshop requires previous encaustic monotype experience. A one-day (intensive) class is offered the day before at a discounted price.
