Description: This two-Day Workshop offers the opportunity to learn, review and or re-fine all of  the Cold Wax/Oil, basics techniques. However, the focus will be exploring nature as a starting point for abstract painting. Nature is a great source of inspiration for all kinds of art, and abstract painting is no exception. Take a walk outside and look for shapes, colors, and forms that catch your eye.

Cost $495.00 Tax & materials included

On the first day we cover the basics:  Mark-making for structure and expression, color mixing, substrate preparation, tools and paint applications,  the foundational layers, texture, collage significance and placement, the stages of dryness, working wet-in-wet, mechanical and solvent reductions and finally the best practices for finishing your work.

On day 2  it centers on simplifying natural elements by manipulating color, form, and composition, using bold color palettes, large brushstrokes, and layering techniques to convey a feeling or emotion rather than a realistic depiction of a specific object

This fast paced workshop is a wonderful opportunity to explore encaustic painting and get personal feedback around your techniques and materials to move you forward working with this luscious paint.

A firm foundation of basic skills and safety will be covered with multiple demos that will include set-up, layering and application techniques, fusing options, color mixing, surface texture and mixed media application. There will be plenty of time for hands-on practice and personal feedback. The only requirement is an attitude of curiosity and learning. This workshop is great for non-artist types and beginners, but I will also address those ready for more advanced direction in their painting practice.

I teach to the student, so bring your questions and curiosity and let’s paint! Most materials, including beautiful R&F paints and products, are generously supplied in support of this workshop.
