Transcendental Abstraction is concerned with the development and presentation of various types of non-representational painting, that finds its source in the creative imagination and does not depend upon the objective approach.
Methods may vary. Some artists approach their paintings by balancing the elements involved; other rely upon the initial emotion produced by the creative urge itself; still others are impel by a metaphysical motivation.
Description: This two-day workshop centers its attention on non-objective painting, or Transcending Abstraction, which is to carry painting beyond the appearance of the physical world, through new concepts of space, color, light and design, to imaginative realms that are idealistic and spiritual.
This class is for artists who are looking to broaden or reinforce their creative skills through lectures, demos, hands-on and critique. If you have no cold wax medium experience a one-day class is offered the day before at a discounted price.

Negative space in art is related to minimalist paintings. It emphasizes not just the subject, but the empty space around the subject. The viewer's eyes may be drawn to a focal point, but they can't help noticing the large section of emptiness that surrounds and defines the composition.
Description:
This encaustic monotype workshop is about simplicity and negative space. It’s how forms, lines and color can convey a narrative. It centers on the use of negative space, also referred to as "air space”.
If you have no encaustic monotype experience a one-day class is offered the day before at a discounted price. As visual artists, we cover the painting surface with a variety of shapes, whether positive shapes or negative space, that come together to create a visual representation that speaks of your artistic intention. We will discuss and demonstrate the uses of negative space, the weight of color as an important part of your painting process and the painting itself. There will be ample opportunities to ask Jorge questions regarding your artwork, plus lots of painting time.
WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS and REGISTRATION:
Sublime emotion toward nature is a composite of feelings of awe and inspiring energy which describes different affective experiences. Awe is defined as a mix of fear and respect toward nature, which is experienced as so much larger than oneself
This 2-Day workshop is designed for artists with prior cold wax knowledge and painting skills who want to take their work to a new level. To help artists think more deeply about their work, Jorge will offer special presentations to the class and do one-on-one consultations to challenge and guide participants to push deeper into their work, both technically and conceptually. The goal is to focus on the sublime of nature in both its abstraction and representational forms and work with each participant’s ideas and concepts as they develop their individual painting narratives.
If you have no cold wax medium experience a one-day class is offered the day before at a discounted price.
