March 26 – 27 10AM to 3 PM
Cost $450.00 Materials and tax included
Description: The first day we will make encaustic medium using refined white wax and Darmar resin. Once the medium is completed, we will then focus on color formulating and the color sticks making process. Oil paints mixed with the encaustic medium (EM) is the binder for the pigment particles to one another and creates uniform consistency and solidity in the paint. These colors will be tested and used in your own paintings.
This is a rare opportunity to make and test your favorite colors while looking at both opaque and transparent colors and how they can be extended with the EM. You will learn and enjoy this easy process and leave with two-three pounds of your custom design color sticks.
Day Two, we will talk about health and safety with encaustics, but focus on the encaustic monotype painting techniques, plate temperature management, papers absorbency and color sticks applications.
We provide demonstrations followed by hands-on studio time.
This allows participants time to paint and explore the many possibilities of the monotype process using the color sticks designs in a safe comfortable work environment.
