The Monochrome Approach and Encaustic Monotypes. India ink, Graphite, Carbon & Charcoal Santa Fe, NM

09 Aug 2021 6:49 AM | Jorge Luis Bernal

October 23rd  & 24th 10 AM to 3 PM

Costs $350.00 (tax and materials included)

This workshop offers artists the opportunity to explore and develop ideas while using a “Monochrome Approach” while doing several exercises using black India ink, graphite, charcoal and carbon as well as the encaustic monotype painting. When working monochromatically contrast is increased and subtle tones become clearer. Color is no longer a distraction and you can focus on the overall composition. This process allows for more expressive mark making and control using the line, shapes forms as well patterns and texture. What you lose in not having color, you’ll gain in quality of composition, form and tone, as well as the ability to communicate mood and atmosphere in a totally different way.

We follow CDC guidelines, ages 18+, max 6 and min of 3 people per class.

All levels welcome.
