Buenaventura Art Association is pleased to announce a National Encaustic Competition. 

BAA, a 60 year old non-profit, artist owned co-operative association unique to the area for operating several exhibition spaces.

The galleries are located in the beautiful beach town of Ventura, California which is 27 miles from Santa Barbara and approximately 65 miles from Los Angeles.

Awards:   First Place $300

                 Second Place $200

                 Third Place $100

                 Honorable mention – non cash

Entry Deadline: All entries must be received by Saturday, September 26, 2015 11:59 PST

Eligibility: Open to all artists in contiguous U.S. working in encaustic

Requirements: All 2D and 3D encaustic work is eligible. (Hot wax – no cold wax)

2D work must be ready-to-hang (no sawtooth hangers)

Maximum Size: 24”x24”

Sales : All work must be for sale.  60% of the selling price will go to the artist. 40% of the selling price will go to Buenaventura Art Association.  Sales are conducted between the Gallery and the buyer.  Prices submitted may not be changed after entry.

Entry fees (non-refundable): Artists may submit up to three pieces via Buenaventura website www.buenaventuragallery.org/Online_Entry

BAA members $30 for up to 3 images

Non-BAA members $40 for up to 3 images

There will be a $2.50 Entrythingy fee per artist

File resolution: 300dpi

File size: 2MB max. per image

Schedule

Entry deadline: Saturday, September 26, 2015 (12 midnight PST)

Notification: Artists will be notified by October 1, 2015

Hand delivery of work: Sunday, November 1 or Monday, November 2, 2015

Between the hours of11:00am-2:00pm

Shipped work: Must be received by Tuesday, October 27, 2015 (shipping details will be sent upon acceptance) 

Shipped work must be delivered in sturdy, re-useable packing materials/containers which will be used for return shipping.  All shipped work must be accompanied by a UPS or FedEx pre-paid, bar-coded shipping label in the box. Please note: BAA is unable to return work that is not accompanied by a pre-paid shipping label.

Pick up/return: Hand delivered art may be picked up Sunday, November 29 or Monday, November 30, 2015

Between the hours of 11:00am-2:00pm

All work will be shipped back within 10 days of the end of the exhibit.

Insurance: While artwork will be handled with the utmost care during the exhibition, BAA is not responsible for lost or damaged artwork while it is in transit to and from the gallery.  Artists must insure their own work during shipping and throughout the show.

Entry into this competition/exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions stated in this prospectus.

Instructor: Caryl St. Ama – Professor of Art, Glendale College, Certified Core instructor for R&F Encaustic Paints.

BAA members: $165

Non-members: $190
