IEA Member Artist Profile

Ted Loomis

Ted Loomis worked as a photographer and darkroom technician throughout high school. He served in the US Air Force visiting Vietnam and 20 other countries. Loomis attended Michigan State University, multi-disciplinary social science (B.A.) and graphic design (M.A.). In 1980, Loomis relocated to Seattle. With photography becoming the folk art of the last century, he began exploring other art mediums (acrylic and encaustic painting, mixed-media and sculpture) and writing fiction. He won first place in the Michigan Artists Print Competiton and has had several one-man shows and participated in numerous group exhibitions.
