Ruth Gooch
Ruth Gooch is an artist working primarily in encaustic. Her background in fine
art black and white photography brings intrigue to much of her encaustic work.
Her work draws the viewer into the image. She varies her palette with black and
white and the exciting range of encaustic color.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The ancient encaustic materials provides the perfect medium to explore the depth
of an image or painting. The ability to paint layers and layers of wax to
showcase the translucency of color, or carve down to see the image emerging is
exciting to me. With my black and white series the wax allows me to extend the
meaning and intrigue of my images to a deeper range.
