ARTIST STATEMENT

Painting with encaustic is a very exciting process for me. It has changed the way I think and do my artwork. Encaustic is immediate, physical, and provides me with a medium to tell my stories. I have found my voice.

My paintings emerge through a combination of drawings, and photographs in many translucent layers of encaustic. I have developed a lustrous encaustic palette, which incorporates evocative figures, in an engaging narrative. The stirring, figurative drawings are the focal point in these mixed media encaustic paintings. A women's view of burred memories and defined moments is revealed through a vocabulary of images, marks and a radiant palette. The narrative quality of these women's journal pieces is the thread that is woven throughout.
