ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been painting for 20 years with a variety of mediums. I have not been able to find a true way to express my obsession of
odd numbers, composition, color, and shapes until I met Encaustic. This particular series of encaustic work is about octopi, more
generally, the cephalopods. Cephalopods are a type of soft bodied mollusk. The cephalopods that inspire me are squid, octopus, and
cuttlefish. These creatures are extremely intelligent. Cephalopods have three hearts, and in my cephalopods series, I
explore the number 3.
