IEA Member Artist Profile
Karen Frey
Karen Frey has been a practicing artist, working primarily in watercolor for the past fifty years. She has just recently begun to paint in encaustics. She has work included in the collections of museums, hospitals, and public municipal venues throughout the country. Her work has been exhibited at the Triton Museum of Art (Santa Clara, CA), The Fairchild Tropical and Botanical Garden (Coral Gables, FL), and the Thomas Reynolds Gallery (San Francisco).
ARTIST STATEMENT
I have come to the conclusion that wax is the perfect painting medium. Fluidity and clarity of color combined with the spacial nature of consecutive layering creates a unique dimension of truth in my representational artworks.
