Julia Koivumaa
ARTIST STATEMENT
In all of my paintings, the images surround the viewer with a sense of flow, by using organic forms to create a
feeling of fluidity that magnifies the natural contrasts between light and shadow that surround us. An endless
source of inspiration for me lay in the interplay of light on, and the texture of water in it's liquid state. I
am also compelled by the concepts of origin and ascension. I believe that art should transform and give something
back to those viewing it.
