IEA Member Artist Profile
Fanne Fernow
Fanne Fernow was born in Buffalo, New York and spent much of her adult life living all over Massachusetts.
Since 1995, she has lived in Santa Cruz, California where she is a full time artist. She has studied art at
Mount Holyoke College and the San Francisco Art Institute, learning about encaustics from Brenda Louie in
1996, and from Daniella Woolf in 2007.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The inspiration for my work comes mostly from traditional and contemporary quilts, including the work of Nancy
Crow, the Amish and the women of Gees Bend, Alabama.
