Charli Ornett
Currently the Creative Director for Yoga Journal magazine, Charli Ornett has worked in the publishing field for 20 years. Starting at Runner’s World magazine she designed and art directed for such well-known titles as Redbook, Elle and Health. She has been painting with encaustic since 2001. Paintings are in private collections in California, New York, Washington DC, and Rome, Italy as well as in the institutional collection of Cisco Systems, San Jose, California.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is about surface and what lies under, fully revealed, or semi-obscured, and how hidden moments never fully disappear. Series have been themed around Debussy’s music, imaginary trips through Asia, or an invented dialogue with Impressionist painters, but they are always about the place where imagination and emotion are snagged by mystery.
