INTERNATIONAL ENCAUSTIC ARTISTS: FAQ

Here are some common questions and answers.

I just sent in my application and payment. What happens next?

ANSWER: Keep in mind that we are all volunteers so allow a reasonable time for a response. However, if too much time has passed, please email the IEA Webmaster so he/she can pass the email on to the Membership person to followup. Once the IEA Membership Coordinator has received notice of your application and payment, he/she will send you a welcome email and pass your confirmation along to the Yahoo Group Email List Coordinator and the IEA Webmaster. You should also receive an invitation/instructions for joining the IEA Yahoo Group Email List at that time.

Your membership renewal is then due one year from your join date and if you haven't received notification, please email the Membership Coordinator to make sure your membership does not lapse.

How can I begin an IEA Chapter in my area?

ANSWER: That is great. IEA is an all-volunteer international organization which began from an enthusiastic group of encaustic artists in the San Francisco bay area, but it has spread all over because of the popularity of encaustics. There are certain guidelines to what constitutes an official IEA chapter (and certain benefits). All members of the chapter need to become members of IEA. Contact the IEA President, or the IEA Webmaster who will forward your email request on to the IEA President who can coordinate with you.

How can I get a member profile page on the IEA website?

ANSWER: Each active and valid IEA member can have a profile webpage on the IEA website during their membership which includes:
  • A brief introduction (about the artist, written in third-person) - no more than 2-3 sentences. [optional]
  • An artist's statement - no more than 2-3 sentences (written in first-person).
  • (2) two sample images of your encaustic work (each image submitted: 500 pixels wide, 72 dpi, jpg, title of work)
Note: number of images shown may be changed by the Board in the future depending upon our bandwidth allotment across all our members
  • Link to external website leading users to see more of your encaustic work [optional]
Please send your profile page information to the IEA Webmaster. Send introduction and artist statement as text and images as non-compressed attachments. Each member is allowed to update their content and images once a year. We are all volunteers, so allow time for updates to be made. Profile pages of inactive members are removed from the listings.
